Family Photos, a Field, Fall Colors, and Grandma's Chair

It was a pleasant autumn day coming off of one of our surprise Colorado snowfalls and extreme temperature changes. Fall tends to be a busy photo time in general in CO, can't imagine why? Um maybe cause all the gorgeous fall color. haha Just a thought.  My blog is no stranger to this little girl, she's a recurring favorite and this time we managed to sneak out and get some photos before sunset one evening with the family in tow. And what goes better with Autumn color, an adorable red head, sunset, and an open field...well grandma's old chair of course.  Had a blast hanging out as usual!

Thanks to Miss Kalie for being the amazing prop master that she is and for the opportunity to capture some sweet family photos.

Though She Be Little...She Be Fierce

Well its official, I have a niece! Little 7lbs 7oz beauty arrived fashionably late on July 1st.  I have no doubt that she is going to do just fine in this world of boys and her big brothers have already stepped up and are amazing! Not that I had any doubt that they would be. Can't wait to watch her grow!

Go Pro Mountain Games

AHHH...the mountains...something I never get tired of seeing and who I rarely turn down the opportunity to hang out in.  So when my husband tells me that he is racing in Vail at the Go Pro Mountain games I sarcastically sigh and say, "Awe man for real, I suppose I could suffer through it if I have to." ha ha

Needless to say that it was quite enjoyable, you can't beat the views or the weather; a perfect 68 degrees.  Throw in some dock jumping dogs, rugged men and hard core ladies duking it out and mountain bikes, endless vender booths to shop at, delicious goodies to sample, a ton of outdoor events to keep your interest, and of course Bigfoot, with all this how can you not have a good time.  Of course I'm sure you can guess which event was the pups favorite. Thanks to my hubs for creating the opportunity for me to go and enjoy the day, real proud of the amazing things he does! Here's a few of the shots I got from the day. Enjoy!

K was happy chillin and watching her favorite sport...dock dogs!

Off to a good start, if you look close you can find J and Russ representing team Cycleton!
Really proud to capture this shot of Russ powering up the hill. Love the socks!

Snowy Spring Day

Just thought I'd share a few iphone photos from this afternoon's snowy drive home.  Mother Nature I think is a little confused on what spring showers should look like. Hope you're safe and warm!

Sweet Love on the Rocks

When I received an email requesting some eclectic outdoor photos that highlight how much they love each other, I instantly got excited! I met up with what turned out to be a truly sweet and laid back couple with an absolutely adorable little girl that had recently moved to CO. We decided on Red Rocks Amphitheater to create a unique experience for them.  It had been getting cold wet weather all week, but in true CO fashion by Saturday of the shoot it was 50 degrees and nothing but sunshine. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute with them and I hope that I get the opportunity to hang out with them again! I felt truly blessed to witness the love they have for each other and to capture such sweet moments between them.

Mountain Snow and some CO Love

Nothing to say really, so I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.  A couple moments I captured this past weekend up at Winter Park. Great day, great state, great snow.  Nuff said. Enjoy!

Gone but Never Forgotten

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. ~Author Unknown

Today is my grandma's funeral and due to severe weather complications I am here instead of at the service. I'm heartbroken.  Without a better way to put it, it just SUCKS!  But alas I can't dwell on it too much so here I am deciding to embrace that things happen for a reason and beyond our control.  So with that in mind, I wanted to celebrate some things I loved about my Grandma. She was such a beauty and I treasure the time I spent with her and the memories I have.  We would do crossword and jigsaw puzzles together.    She taught me to crochet (even though I never caught on to doing more than a chain) she would crochet and quilt beautiful intricate designs that were masterpieces.  In the summer we would go visit and she'd be out in the garden, picking raspberries and peas.  Canning pickles, fruit, and jellies.  We would bake and cook, and then we would get to do the dishes where it was my job to dry.  She would read and tell stories.  She would make beautiful seashell flowers from the shells she collected on her trips to Florida.  She would get fired up watching Iowa Hawkeye men's basketball games.   She loved homemade popcorn on the stove with salt and melted butter. And fishing for blue gill on the mighty Mississippi river, where later she would beer batter them and fry them up for supper. For Christmas we would go to their place and she would always have sugar cookies on the back porch ready for us to decorate. Which we would have to wait till after we went to church for Christmas Eve service. If you sat next to her she would softly caress your arm ever so gently.  She would make chicken noodle soup with raisins.

She loved to dance, that's how she met my grandpa. She loved to snuggle, smile, laugh, hum, and sing.
Every time we would drive away she would be out on the front steps waving to us until
we were out of sight.

Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again!

Patience is a Virtue

I can't tell you how many times I've heard the saying "Patience is a virtue" and nothing has made it more true than being the owner of a rambunctious lab/australian shepherd mix puppy.  She is now seven and I can't believe how time has flown and how much we've been through in those seven years.  She's been the constant in my life through out, and even though she has given me a lot of grief she has also given me endless amounts of love and valuable lessons.

Love my Baby girl!

Singing & Dancing in the Rain

I have to admit I have only seen Singin in the Rain a couple of times (which is shocking since I absolutely adore Gene Kelly), but the song has been playing over and over again in my head. Lately I've found myself in a bit of a downpour of challenges in my life and in an effort to navigate the storm with some degree of optimism I'm attempting to dance because as the saying goes...

This picture of me was taken by a friend of mine two summers ago when were got drenched running to our cars after work, I decided I can't get anymore wet than I already am, might as well embrace it.
