View from the Splash Zone

Being married to a mountain bike racer, comes with some great photographic opportunities. Not only do I get to spend time outdoors in the beautiful rocky mountains of CO, but every now and then a race comes along where I happen to be in the right place at the right time with my camera and everything comes together to get some amazing shots. This race happened to be the Colorado Freeride Festival race of the Winter Park, CO series. Something as simple as a mountain stream turns into a stage for some magic.  Getting set up proved to pose some challenges.  I ended up slipping off a rock and therefore getting to test the waters first hand and consequently wearing wet shoes for part of the day. Once I made it across, I underestimated the amount of spray the racers produced.  And on top of all this I managed to get some decent shots while ringing a cowbell.  Cause what's a race without some cowbell.  I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did taking them.

Epic Racing and Good Karma

I have to say that its not all bad tagging along on my husband race adventures. There could be worse things to do on a weekend then to hang out in beautiful Snowmass for 12 hours. We were lucky enough to get a great deal on a condo that was right up the hill from the start of the race. I of course made sure to have my camera ready to capture some of the excitement of the day.

I even got to hang out with Karma, she's such a sweet pup! Relaxing in a tent, watching the race, hanging with a well behaved pup, and taking picts...life is good.  Afterwards there were awards and J and D got to meet the legendary mountain biker, Tinker Juarez. They were like kids at Christmas!
